A Time for Everything

Isn’t life a funny thing? Some days we can wake up wanting to cry, everything can seem so pointless, and we might not even really understand why. Other days we wake up full of energy, excited about the future, and ready to take on whatever comes our way. Often we wake up feeling somewhere between the two, and that’s okay. Because no matter what, no matter how we feel, God is always working. He is always doing something in our lives.

Think about a tree, in spring in looks beautiful, covered in blossom; in the summer it looks lush and alive; in autumn we enjoy the fruit but in winter it looks as good as dead.

Does that mean the tree is worthless in winter? Does that mean it really is dead?

No, the tree needs to rest, to get ready for the next year, it can’t provide fruit all year round. If we want to have the spring, summer and autumn we must have the winter too.

If times are hard, if it feels like you aren’t really achieving anything, don’t give up! God is still working in your life.

It may feel like the winter is lasting forever; but spring will come.

The seasons of our life will change, but we can always praise God.

In the spring there is so much potential; when new and exciting things are happening all around we praise God.

In the summer everything seems to be coming together, it’s exciting! Praise God!

In the autumn we are see the fruits of all our hard work, at this time it feels natural to praise God

In the winter everything might feel cold and dark, but we can still praise God. Remember what he has done in our lives and get excited about what he is about to do.

Winter will always come, but it won’t last forever.

There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity under the heavens:

a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,
a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,
a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,
a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing,
a time to search and a time to give up,
a time to keep and a time to throw away,
a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak,
a time to love and a time to hate,
a time for war and a time for peace. Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

I think different area’s of our life (Work, relationships, health, family) can be in different seasons at the same time. What season(s) are you experiencing in your life at the moment?

  1. There is a season for everything. We’re in a season of transition from what we’ve been doing for the last 12 years to a new ministry. It’s a bit unsettling, but exciting.

  2. Oh this is just so encouraging to read!! I love this, And I believe you are right, when you say we can be in different seasons in different areas of our lives. I am currently fluctuating between so many seasons… winter seems to cover my heart in some difficult areas right now.

I will praise God, knowing He is still at work, despite the lack of light.
