The Truth in the Mirror, a story of God’s love for you

She stared into the mirror, examining the face that looked back at her. The same face that had looked back her whole life. Today it was different though, as she looked she didn’t just see what was on the outside, she saw what was inside as well.

It was so clear, like it was playing right in front of her. The mistakes she had made. The things she had done. The things that she hadn’t done. The thoughts that she had: about other people, about herself, about her God. The times she hadn’t listened to him. The times she had, but still hadn’t done what He asked.

Tears flowed as she fell to her knees. “What have I done!” She whispered. “Why weren’t you there? I needed you.” She sat there for a long time, sobbing over all the regrets.

After a while a voice spoke to her heart. “Look in the mirror.”

“I can’t, I’m scared of what I might see.”

“Look in the mirror, you can trust me,” the voice said again, kindly.

Eventually she  pulled herself up, it was like she had no choice. She could hardly look at herself, but before she could turn away, words appeared on the mirror.

PRECIOUS You are mine. I will not let you go. I will never leave you. I will never forsake you.

BEAUTIFUL I made you. I don’t make mistakes. You are perfect

CHOSEN I chose you. I have a plan especially for you.

LOVED You are more loved than you know. I died for you.

It doesn’t matter what you have done, these things will always be true, they are greater than your mistakes and failures.

I will always be greater than your mistakes and failures. All you need to do is run to me, tell me that you’re sorry and I will forgive you. Don’t hide, you can trust me. I will never leave you.

Could she do it? Could she trust him? Could she really believe these things are true?

Precious. Chosen. Beautiful. Loved.

Can you believe that these things are true?

38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons,[a] neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8: 38-39

  1. I love your post and Roman quote…this need so much in a world that hates you or “self-love” and focus on the power of God love for each of us!
