How long does it take you to choose what to wear? Do you plan out your outfits in advance; spend ages deciding in the morning, trying on item after item or just throw on the first thing you see?
I love make over programmes, anything with Gok Wan or Trinny and Susannah is right up my street! This might sound a bit superficial, but I love the way that they give women confidence and make them feel that they really are pretty.
Clothes are important, and as women we can often spend a lot of time thinking about them. But what about if we were to spend just as match time thinking about our spiritual clothes as we do about our physical clothes?
The bible talks about spiritual clothing a few times. In Proverbs 31 we learn about a woman who is clothed in strength and dignity and laughs at the days to come. The bible does not say she is clothed in a dress from New Look, pumps from Primark and accessorised with a gorgeous scarf her mum bought her for Christmas last year. It does say strength and dignity are her clothing, her greatest fashion accessory! We need to remember this. Her spiritual clothing is far more important than her physical clothing.
In the book of Galatians we are told to put on the full armour of God: Belt of Truth; breastplate of Righteousness; Sandals of the Gospel of Peace; Shield of Faith; Helmet of Salvation and the Sword of the Spirit which is the word of God.
Imagine if we spent as much time worrying about this spiritual clothing as we did about our actual clothes. If every morning we took time to clothe ourselves in truth, righteousness, peace and faith if we remembered our salvation and carried the word of God with us. Just think about what could happen.
Physical clothing may have the ability to help us feel confident or pretty, but can it give us strength and dignity? Peace and faith and righteousness? Can it help us know the truth the word of God and our salvation?
Spiritual clothing is far more important than physical clothing! Dont forget to put on both every morning!
